Hammer Boy
Dinamic / Inder • 1990

Defend your strongholds in Hammer Boy, a two-player whac-a-mole style game released in 1990 by Dinamic and Inder. Players use hammers to repel attacking figures appearing across various locations—ranging from a western fort and pirate ship, to a castle and even a space station. The gameplay requires quick reflexes as players work cooperatively or competitively to keep the invaders at bay. Originally conceived during a period of transition for Dinamic, Hammer Boy was one of three titles selected for an experimental arcade release in partnership with Inder. This initiative aimed to bring some of Dinamic’s previously home computer games to wider audiences through dedicated arcade hardware. Though intended for broader distribution, the project ultimately faced challenges and production was limited to approximately 1000 arcade units. The game’s technical specifications include a Motorola M68000 processor, a TMS 34010 graphics chip, and a Zilog Z80 sound chip. Following its initial arcade run, Hammer Boy saw ports to several home computers including the Atari ST, Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Commodore C64, MSX, PC, and Commodore Amiga.
