Also known as: Guevara

Guerrilla War is a cooperative shooter released in 1987 by SNK, originally developed in Japan and later exported to North America. Players take on the roles of revolutionaries battling oppressive forces across varied landscapes. Using an eight-way joystick for movement and two buttons for firing, each player navigates their character through scrolling environments while confronting enemy soldiers and vehicles. The gameplay combines elements of walking and shooting; players must strategically position themselves and utilize cover to survive waves of attackers. Two Zilog Z80 processors power the game's visuals and action, complemented by Yamaha YM3526 and Y8950 sound chips which deliver the audio experience. Though the title screen indicates a 1987 release, the game became available in North America during March of 1988. Guerrilla War was subsequently ported to several home computers including Amstrad CPC, Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Commodore Amiga, Atari ST, and IBM PC. The title "Guerrilla War" is also known as “Guevara,” referencing the historical figure.
