Step up to the plate in Great Sluggers, a baseball arcade game from Namco released in 1993. This title allows for four players to compete simultaneously, bringing intense team-based action to the arcade floor. Players use an eight-way joystick and three buttons to control their batters, timing swings and aiming pitches within a detailed recreation of a stadium setting. Great Sluggers is officially licensed by the Major League Baseball Players Association, featuring real player likenesses and uniforms. The gameplay emphasizes strategic hitting and fielding as players strive for home runs and outs across multiple innings. Utilizing Namco’s System NB-1 hardware, the game presents vibrant graphics with a palette of over eight thousand colors on a horizontal screen. This is the first entry in the Great Sluggers series, succeeded by Great Sluggers '94. The title debuted in September of 1993 and features two players competing against one another.
