Groove on Fight - Gouketsuji Ichizoku 3 (J 970416 V1.001)
Atlus • 1997

Atlus’s Groove on Fight is a two-player versus fighting game released in 1997 for Sega ST-V arcade hardware. Players select teams of two characters to battle against each other in fast-paced 2D combat. A key feature of the gameplay allows players to strategically "tag" their teammate, who observes from the sidelines, enabling them to recover stamina and re-enter the fight. The game introduces an original roster alongside familiar faces for fans of Atlus’s Power Instinct series. Characters like Oume and Utane, previously seen in Power Instinct 2, make a return, along with Popura, who shares visual similarities with another character from that earlier title. Utilizing an eight-way joystick and six buttons—covering weak and strong punches, kicks, overhead attacks, and a dash attack—players execute combos and special moves to overwhelm their opponents. Groove on Fight was later ported to the Sega Saturn console. The game’s development team included staff such as Super_K, Yn_Dessy, Missile, and Dencyu, with scenery art provided by Clark Kent Co. Ltd.
