Gameplay

Take to the skies in Ghost Pilots, a fast-paced vertical scrolling shooter released by SNK in 1991. Players assume the roles of Tom Phillips and Charlie Stingley, freelance pilots nicknamed "Ghost Pilots," battling Axis forces during World War II. Choose from several bomb types before each stage – including napalm and air mines – to strategically support your aerial assault against tanks, gunboats, and enemy aircraft. Collecting power-ups enhances firepower and provides additional bombs or extra lives as you progress. The gameplay focuses on intense dogfights and strategic choices; players must manage their limited supply of bombs while navigating challenging levels filled with varied enemies. Each stage culminates in a boss fight requiring precise shooting and careful bomb deployment. Two players can cooperate, each selecting unique bomb types to maximize effectiveness against the enemy onslaught. Ghost Pilots runs on SNK’s Neo-Geo MVS hardware and utilizes a classic arcade control scheme featuring a joystick and four buttons for movement, shooting, and deploying bombs.
