Voltage Fighter - Gowcaizer / Choujin Gakuen Gowcaizer
Technos Japan • 1995

Voltage Fighter – Gowcaizer is a head-to-head fighting game released in 1995 by Technos Japan for Neo-Geo arcade systems. Set in the futuristic city of Tron City and centered around a school for gifted students called the Belnar Institute, the story revolves around Isato Kaiza, who transforms into the super-powered Gowcaizer using a special stone. Players select from a roster of characters embroiled in a conflict involving revenge plots and world-threatening schemes, battling each other to resolve the escalating tensions. Gameplay involves utilizing a traditional fighting game control scheme with an eight-way joystick and four attack buttons for quick and strong punches and kicks. Each character possesses unique special moves and abilities, encouraging strategic gameplay as players attempt to outmaneuver their opponents in one-on-one matches. The game’s anime-inspired visuals create a vibrant and energetic atmosphere during the intense brawls. Though initially released in Japan as Choujin Gakuen Gowcaizer, it gained broader recognition internationally as Voltage Fighter – Gowcaizer, following a planned sequel that was ultimately unreleased. A two-part animated series based on the game's world and characters later expanded upon its narrative.
