Golden Axe (set 6, US) (8751 317-123A)

Step into a vibrant fantasy world in Golden Axe, a cooperative action game for two players. As one of three distinct heroes—Tyris Flare, Ax Battler, or Gilius Thunderhead—you’ll battle through nine stages to rescue the King and Queen from the clutches of Death Adder. Progressing through side-scrolling levels, you'll fight hordes of enemies on foot or even commandeer mounted creatures like dragons to turn the tide of combat. Unique character abilities add depth to the gameplay; each hero possesses a special magic attack, while double-tapping the joystick allows for a powerful charge smash. Throughout your quest, opportunistic thieves will appear carrying sacks, which can be looted for valuable food and potions—the latter granting access to devastating magical attacks that clear the screen of enemies. A quirky post-credits sequence offers a playful sendoff, featuring the heroes bursting out of an arcade cabinet and pursuing players down the street, leaving a lasting impression long after the game ends.
