Ghox (spinner)
Toaplan • 1991

In Ghox, players control two heroes tasked with confronting the evil magician Jagula and restoring light to a world shrouded in darkness. This break-out style game challenges you to manipulate magic balls using spinning dials to shatter formations of enemies and obstacles within Jagula's lair. As Axis and Bilious, players work cooperatively – or competitively – to navigate increasingly difficult levels filled with menacing spirits. The gameplay revolves around skillfully directing your ball to destroy the blocks while collecting power-ups that alter its behavior; these range from increasing paddle size to creating through balls and slowing down enemy projectiles. Strategic use of these enhancements is vital for survival as you face off against a variety of foes and work toward confronting Jagula himself. A special ending awaits players who can defeat the final boss using the ultimate paddle, demonstrating mastery of this challenging two-player arcade title released by Toaplan in 1991.
