Gameplay

Experience high-speed racing action in Gekisou, a two-player arcade game from Eastern Corp released in 1985. Players pilot futuristic armored vehicles through a city landscape, striving to reach the garage and advance to subsequent levels. The gameplay focuses on dodging obstacles and confronting enemy vehicles that attempt to impede your progress. To survive, players utilize onboard weaponry and can also destroy opponents by bumping into their cars or crushing them with jumps. A vertical screen displays the action at 60 frames per second, presenting a fast-paced challenge demanding quick reflexes and strategic maneuvering. The game employs a combination of sound chips to create an energetic audio experience accompanying the visual spectacle. Outside of Japan, Gekisou was distributed under the title “Violent Run.” Control is achieved through an eight-way joystick and three buttons, allowing players to precisely manage their armored vehicle’s movements and actions amidst the chaotic race.
