Step into the dungeons of Gauntlet, an action-packed maze shooter for up to four players. Choose from one of four fantasy heroes – Thor the Warrior, Thyra the Valkyrie, Merlin the Wizard, or Questor the Elf – each possessing unique abilities and weaknesses as you navigate treacherous labyrinths teeming with monsters. Cooperation is key as you explore, battling foes and scavenging for food, treasure, magic potions, and power-ups to sustain your characters and progress deeper into the dungeon complex. Gameplay revolves around a constant struggle for survival; health depletes over time, and contact with enemies drains it further, demanding careful resource management and strategic use of magic potions which can also be deployed as devastating area-of-effect attacks against hordes of creatures. While the first levels offer a familiar challenge, players will soon encounter randomly generated mazes, ensuring each playthrough is distinct and unpredictable. Success in Gauntlet isn’t solely about combat; clever navigation and efficient resource acquisition are equally vital to achieving a high score – especially when playing with a full party, as shared treasure increases the multiplier. The game's innovative design allows for drop-in/drop-out gameplay, meaning players can join or leave at any time, keeping the action flowing and the coin slots humming.
