Gaplus (GP2 rev. B)

Gaplus builds upon the foundation of Namco’s classic Galaga series, offering an enhanced shooter experience from 1984. Players control a spaceship tasked with defending against waves of increasingly aggressive alien formations while enjoying improved graphics featuring more detailed shading and color palettes than its predecessor. A unique gameplay element is introduced with the Tractor Beam – earned by defeating a special “general” alien – allowing players to temporarily capture enemy ships and bolster their firepower. Movement has also been expanded; now, your ship can ascend the playfield, offering new tactical possibilities as aliens swarm from all directions. Like previous games in the series, Gaplus features "Challenging Stages" where players score bonus points by shooting patterns of enemies to spell out words. Two players can join forces to tackle the escalating challenge and compete for the highest score on the leaderboard. The game's dedicated cabinet is easily recognizable with its black finish accented by colorful stripes and side art depicting scenes from the action, while inside, a simple control panel features an eight-way joystick and fire buttons for precise maneuvering and rapid-fire attacks.
