Gameplay

In Galmedes, released in Japan in 1992 by Visco, players pilot advanced space fighters as Foo and Bar against an invading force from the planet Gaston. The game is a two-player vertical scrolling shooter where you maneuver your LEPTON fighter through increasingly challenging levels to thwart the plans of dictator Gildy, who aims to conquer the Galmedes Galaxy following his domination of his own home system. Players control their fighters using an eight-way joystick and button controls to fire standard weapons and unleash a powerful charge attack. Collecting all three weapon types allows pilots to select which armament they prefer during combat. The game’s technical foundation rests on Motorola and Zilog processors, complemented by a Yamaha sound chip for its audio presentation. The unusual pilot names, Foo and Bar, are a deliberate reference to the military acronym "FUBAR," hinting at the chaotic nature of their mission against Gildy's overwhelming forces.
