Galaxy Fight - Universal Warriors
Sunsoft • 1995

Galaxy Fight - Universal Warriors is a two-player versus fighting game released by Sunsoft in 1995 and running on SNK's Neo-Geo MVS hardware. Eight selectable characters battle across expansive stages that seemingly extend into infinity, encouraging aggressive, long-range attacks. Players utilize an eight-way joystick and four attack buttons—subdued, medium, strong, and taunt—to execute a variety of moves and combos against their opponent. A playful homage to classic fighting games is present in the form of “Bonus-Kun,” a hidden character resembling Street Fighter’s Ryu who appears as a bonus unlockable. The game rewards skilled players; beating the entire game without losing a round unlocks a challenging boss fight and an extended staff roll showcasing all characters. Galaxy Fight marked Sunsoft's initial venture onto the Neo-Geo MVS platform, and has since seen numerous ports to other systems including Sega Saturn and PlayStation.
