Gaia Crusaders
Noise Factory • 1999

Gaia Crusaders casts players into a world overrun by demons, tasking them with battling Satan and his forces across scrolling stages. Choose from five Elemental Warriors – Fred Sathal, Jimi Isaak, Kohen, Koufu, and M-985 – each possessing unique combat styles and magical attributes like fire or wind. Gameplay revolves around classic beat 'em up action; players utilize punches, kicks, and powerful special moves triggered by simultaneous button presses to dispatch waves of enemies. Strategic item collection adds depth to the experience. Colored spheres grant temporary magic attacks that can clear the screen when matched with a character’s elemental affinity, while rarer bombs deliver devastating area-of-effect damage. Explosive boxes provide ranged options and a sword weapon offers familiar close-quarters combat tools. Boss battles conclude each stage, demanding skillful use of abilities to overcome formidable foes. Developed by Noise Factory in 1999, Gaia Crusaders draws inspiration from titles like Final Fight, offering a blend of accessible action and satisfying combo potential with a touch of magical flair. The game’s design includes subtle nods to other popular media, such as an end-stage boss resembling the Incredible Hulk and possible influences from Pretty Soldier - Sailor Moon.
