Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder (World, Rev B)
Sega • 1992

Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder plunges players into a fantasy world overrun by the villainous Death Adder and his forces. This side-scrolling beat-'em-up allows up to four players to simultaneously control one of four distinct characters – Sternblade, Dora, Goah (a giant carrying a dwarf), or Little Trix – each with unique abilities and special attack moves triggered by combining jump and attack inputs. As you battle through the game’s levels, expect to encounter hazards like dragons and catapults that can be temporarily ridden for offensive advantages. Beyond standard combat, players will find opportunities to collect food and potions dropped by passing dwarfs, as well as rescue imprisoned characters along their path. The game distinguishes itself from its predecessor with branching pathways, providing varied routes through the levels and extending replayability. A map screen appears at the end of each stage, displaying locations identified by ancient Greek words relating to features like rivers, forests, and towns. This 1992 release runs on Sega’s System 32 hardware and offers a familiar yet expanded Golden Axe experience. The US version notably supports four-player simultaneous gameplay and forces players through all seven levels in a single run, offering a more robust challenge compared to some international versions.
