Taisen Mahjong Final Romance 4 (Japan)

Taisen Mahjong Final Romance 4 is a two-player tabletop arcade game released in 1998 by Video System Co. Players engage in matches of mahjong against charmingly designed female characters, each with unique personalities and visual aesthetics created by Akatsuki Gomoku and brought to life through animation overseen by Watabe Keisuke. The gameplay centers around the traditional rules of mahjong, requiring players to strategically combine tiles to form winning hands while interacting within a competitive environment. The game features a cast including Yuri, Shino, Momo, Saki, and several other characters voiced by Japanese actresses such as Nagasawa Miki and Yajima Akiko. Music and sound effects were composed by Itamura Maoki, complementing the visual presentation with an engaging audio experience. Programmed primarily by Hamanaka Tsukasa, Taisen Mahjong Final Romance 4 builds upon previous entries in the "Final Romance" series, offering a familiar yet refined mahjong challenge for fans of the genre. Following its arcade debut, this title was later ported to both Sega Saturn and Windows PC platforms, allowing players outside of arcades to experience the game’s unique blend of tabletop strategy and character-driven presentation.
