Flash Point (set 2, Japan) (FD1094 317-0127A)
Sega • 1989

Flash Point challenges players to clear flashing blocks from increasingly complex stages in this puzzle game released by Sega in 1989. Similar to Tetris, players manipulate falling block patterns to eliminate all indicated flashing pieces and advance through a total of one hundred levels. Ninety stages are initially available, with the remaining ten unlocked upon completion of the initial set. Two players can compete simultaneously for the highest score. The game utilizes Sega’s System 16B hardware and features cameo appearances from Flicky, who introduces each round. A bootleg version produced by Datsu also appeared in 1989 under the same title. Notably, the preview displayed for one of the block patterns incorrectly shows a neutral expression instead of a smiling face. Flash Point has seen limited availability outside of arcades, with ports appearing on MSX computers and included within later compilation releases such as Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 28 for PlayStation 2. A version intended for the Sega Mega Drive was never released.
