Four Trax (World)
Namco • 1989

Four Trax challenges players to navigate an off-road racecourse piloting one of four quad bikes – red, white, yellow, or green. As a single player, you control the red bike and must complete laps within a time limit that extends with each successful circuit. Failure to finish a lap before time expires results in immediate elimination from the race, leaving the remaining players to continue on their own. The game features a chase-view perspective as you maneuver your quad bike around the track, avoiding both environmental obstacles and competing CPU-controlled bikes. The number of these AI opponents varies based on player count, with seven appearing when playing solo. Between three and six laps are required to win, dictated by cabinet settings similar to Namco’s Final Lap. Running on Namco's System 2 hardware, Four Trax combines a steering wheel control scheme with a single button for acceleration. A soundtrack composed by Junko Ozawa and Yoshie Takayanagi accompanied the game’s release in Japan during November of 1989, later licensed to Atari for distribution in the United States.
