Gameplay

Eolith’s Fortress 2 Blue Arcade is a cooperative shooter for two players, released in Korea in September 2001. Built upon the foundation of an earlier online game series, this arcade adaptation puts you in command of defensive structures against waves of approaching enemies. Players strategically deploy and upgrade turrets within their assigned fortress sections, working together to repel attacks and protect their base. The game utilizes a graduated 2D graphics system running on Eolith's custom hardware, offering detailed visuals with a 16-bit color palette across resolutions up to 512x384 pixels. Gameplay relies on precise coordination between players, as each must manage resources and prioritize targets amidst the escalating threat. Utilizing an eight-way joystick and two buttons for control, players can adjust turret placement, allocate power, and trigger special abilities. The soundtrack combines synthesized sounds with MIDI music, creating a dynamic audio backdrop to the action. Fortress 2 Blue Arcade is part of a larger franchise that began with the original Fortress in 1997, and continued through multiple online iterations prior to this arcade release.
