Football Power (version 4.6)
Gaelco • 1999

Gaelco’s Football Power arrived in arcades in 1999, offering a unique twist on the sports video game formula. This two-player soccer title distinguishes itself with an unusual physical element – players actually kick a real ball to influence the action displayed onscreen. While button controls and a joystick handle all other aspects of gameplay, the integration of a physical ball adds a surprising layer of interactivity. Players maneuver their teams across the screen using the standard arcade control scheme, attempting to score goals against their opponent. The game’s design incorporates several updates over its initial release, with versions 1.1, 1.2 and 1.4 appearing in subsequent years. Football Power provides a blend of digital strategy and physical participation for a novel soccer experience.
