Gameplay

Step into a whimsical world in The FairyLand Story, a charming platformer released by Taito in 1985. Players control a magical elf who utilizes enchanting spells to transform mischievous wizards, witches, and other creatures into cakes. The goal is to clear each castle-themed level by either destroying these cake enemies or strategically dropping them onto others for bonus points—but be careful; contact with an enemy or even a falling cake results in lost lives. This cooperative game supports two players, allowing friends to team up against the fairytale foes. As you progress, watch out for shrinking spells cast by wizards and learn to utilize your abilities - standing on enemies is possible! Discovering items within each level can also enhance your magic and provide other helpful effects. The FairyLand Story served as a precursor to Taito's later hit, Bubble Bobble, offering a unique blend of platforming action and spell-casting gameplay that remains engaging even today.
