Gameplay

Fire Trap is a cooperative climbing and building game released in 1986 by Woodplace Inc., under license from Data East USA. Two players work together to ascend a series of platforms while avoiding hazards and constructing pathways upwards. The gameplay centers around strategically placing blocks to create bridges, ladders, and other structures that allow the characters to progress through increasingly challenging environments. Players must coordinate their actions carefully; one might build a platform for the other to jump onto, or construct a staircase leading towards an otherwise unreachable area. Success depends on communication and shared problem-solving as the duo navigates obstacles and works toward reaching higher levels. This arcade title was initially released in the United States during November of 1986. Fire Trap arrived as a conversion kit, designed to update existing arcade cabinets with new game hardware. It offers a unique gameplay experience focused on collaborative construction and vertical progression – an unusual combination for its time.
