Gameplay

Field Day is a four-player sports game released in 1984 by Taito Corporation. Players compete against each other in a series of track and field events, including running races, high jump, long jump, javelin throw, and more. The gameplay involves timing button presses to control your athlete’s actions within each event—a well-timed press might result in a higher jump or a faster sprint. Originally developed in Japan as The Undoukai - Dokoka no Gyoshiryoo no Undoukai, the export version of Field Day removed some visual elements present in its Japanese release, like flags held by spectators in the background scenery. The game’s presentation is straightforward and focused on athletic competition. Each player controls an individual athlete visible on screen as they navigate each event's challenges. Success depends on accurate timing and coordination to outperform opponents and achieve the highest scores across all events. Field Day offers a simple, yet engaging experience centered on classic sports activities.
