Field Combat
Jaleco • 1985

Field Combat pits two players against each other in a futuristic warzone as commanding officers leading blue forces against red adversaries. Utilizing the Genesis, a powerful warship capable of missile fire, players navigate through increasingly challenging stages filled with enemy infantry, tanks, and helicopters. A unique mechanic allows for reinforcement requests; pressing both buttons simultaneously summons supporting units to aid in battle. As players progress, they can even absorb defeated enemies into their own army, bolstering their forces against the relentless onslaught. An unusual threat comes in the form of an alien spacecraft that attempts to capture friendly units – sometimes engaging them directly in aerial combat with a defending helicopter. The game is accompanied by Richard Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries," adding a dramatic flair to the intense battlefield action. Published by Jaleco in 1985, Field Combat offers cooperative two-player shooter gameplay controlled through an eight-way joystick and two buttons.
