Gameplay

Fast Lane is a competitive maze driving game released by Konami in 1987 for two players. Players navigate intricate mazes using an eight-way joystick to maneuver their vehicles through each level. A pursuing vehicle attempts to impede your progress, demanding skillful navigation and strategic use of power-ups to succeed. Progressing through the maze involves collecting bonuses from beachgoers which grant various abilities. These include a jump to evade or briefly disable the opposing vehicle, a projectile attack, a ramming charge, and two different types of energy blasts – one firing forward and another vertically – all aiding in both offensive maneuvers and clearing pathways within the maze. A flash power-up can also momentarily stun your rival from afar. The game presents a vertical display with a resolution of 224x280 pixels, offering a unique visual experience powered by two K007232 sound chips. The gameplay focuses on skillful driving and tactical use of abilities to outwit the opposing player as you race through the increasingly complex maze layouts.
