FamicomBox
Nintendo • 1986
Also known as: FamicomStation

Nintendo’s FamicomBox arrived in arcades in 1986 as a multi-game compilation designed for three players simultaneously. The cabinet offered a selection of games originally released on the Famicom (Family Computer), Nintendo's home console, providing arcade patrons with access to titles they might otherwise only experience at home. Gameplay varied depending on the selected game, offering a diverse range of challenges and experiences suited to different player preferences. Players could enjoy a variety of gameplay styles within the compilation—expect puzzle elements, action sequences, or platforming challenges, all presented in the distinctive visual style of early Famicom titles. The three-player cooperative design encouraged interaction and competition among players as they tackled each game's objectives. FamicomBox represents an interesting snapshot of Nintendo’s arcade presence during the mid-1980s, bringing a curated selection of console games to a wider audience in dedicated gaming spaces.
