Gameplay

Experience Formula One racing from an overhead perspective in F-1 Grand Prix, released by Video System Co. in 1991. As a single player, you navigate your race car around twisting tracks, competing to achieve the fastest lap times and ultimately win each grand prix. The game utilizes a straightforward control scheme involving an eight-way joystick for steering and two buttons for actions during races. The graphics provide a clear view of the track ahead as you maneuver through turns and attempt to overtake opponents. A Yamaha YM2610 sound chip provides the audio, creating the sounds of engines roaring and tires screeching throughout your race. F-1 Grand Prix was followed by a sequel in 1992, demonstrating Video System Co.’s continued interest in racing games. A version of this game was also distributed under the same title by Playmark, representing a bootleg production. The Super Famicom received a port of this arcade classic shortly after its original release.
