Enforce (World)
Taito Corporation Japan • 1988

Enforce (World) is a single-player shooter released in 1989 from Taito Corporation Japan that puts players in control of a tank navigating a series of environments. Utilizing technology similar to Taito’s “Continental Circus,” the game presents a first-person perspective as you maneuver and engage enemy targets. Players utilize an eight-way joystick for movement, with dedicated buttons for firing a machine gun and launching lasers. The game's world version is licensed from the U.S. Navy under patent 4,021,846, and features unusual measurements using feet, inches, and pounds to describe various elements of the tank and environment. Despite its relatively late release, a high score remains anonymous within the game’s records. After completing all stages, players are presented with a standard “game over” screen, mirroring the structure found in titles like "Chase H.Q.". While the Japanese versions of Enforce incorporate unique features such as analog controls and gear shifting mechanics, the world release maintains digital controls. The soundtrack was produced by Zuntata and features music composed by Takami Asano.
