Emeraldia (World)
Namco • 1993

Emeraldia is a cooperative puzzle game released by Namco in 1993 for four players. The gameplay revolves around strategically dropping colored squares to create vertical matches. When three squares of the same color stack on top of each other, they crack; subsequently, landing a fourth square of that color causes all four to disappear from the playfield. Players work together to clear the screen and prevent blocks from reaching the top. Each player controls their own section of the game board using an 8-way joystick. The soundtrack for Emeraldia was later included on the Namco Video Game Graffiti Vol. 10 compilation album. The game utilizes Namco’s NA-1 hardware, powered by a Motorola 68000 processor and featuring sound provided by a C140 chip. A version of Emeraldia was made available on the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console Arcade service in 2009.
