Eliminator (2 Players, set 1)
Gremlin • 1981

Piloting spacecraft in a vector graphics environment, players face off against alien drones and an imposing asteroid base known as the Eliminator. Using four buttons to rotate and accelerate their ship while firing projectiles, two players work toward destroying the central core of the Eliminator, which can be achieved through direct hits or ricochets. Failure to defeat the Eliminator within a time limit results in the activation of a drone that attempts to shoot down the player ships, and the playfield becomes enclosed by an invisible barrier, increasing the difficulty of evasion. This 1981 title from Gremlin Industries utilizes distinctive vector graphics and features gameplay centered around strategic shooting and maneuvering. Destroying the Eliminator resets the game with increased enemy challenges for continued play. This version (Set 1) presents larger, less precise drones than earlier releases, and displays green text on screen alongside player scores rather than a countdown timer. Eliminator represents Gremlin's final arcade release and their sole venture into vector graphics technology, running on Sega’s G80 hardware. While this two-player upright cabinet is the most common configuration, Eliminator was also released in cocktail and four-player variants.
