Dynamite Duke (Europe, 03SEP89)
Seibu Kaihatsu • 1989

A sinister scientist plots global domination using an army of mutant soldiers, and it falls to Dynamite Duke—an elite operative equipped with a powerful bionic arm—to thwart his scheme. This side-scrolling shooter combines elements of run-and-gun action with beat-'em-up gameplay as players control Duke through hazardous environments battling waves of increasingly formidable enemies. Two players can team up simultaneously for cooperative play, facing the challenges together in this frantic race against time. Players navigate stages using an eight-way joystick to dodge attacks and utilize Duke's bionic arm for devastating close-quarters combat and ranged weaponry. The game features detailed graphics and a blend of synthesized music and sound effects driven by its custom hardware. A memorial tribute is included within the game, honoring Hironori Matsuo. Dynamite Duke originally debuted in Europe in 1989 and was later ported to various home systems including the Sega Master System and Mega Drive, as well as the Sharp X68000 computer platform.
