Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors (Europe 940705)
Capcom • 1994
Also known as: Vampire: The Night Warriors

Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors is a two-player versus fighting game released by Capcom in 1994. Running on the CPS-II hardware platform, this version was published outside of Japan and represents an adaptation of the original Japanese title, "Vampire - The Night Warriors." Players choose from a cast of supernatural characters—monsters, demons, and creatures of folklore—each with unique abilities and fighting styles. Matches unfold as these beings clash in stylized arenas, utilizing attacks, special moves, and combinations to deplete their opponent’s health bar. The game features distinct character names tailored for European audiences; Gallon became Jon Talbain, Zabel Zarock is known as Lord Raptor, Aulbath's name changed to Rikuo, and Phobos appears under the moniker Huitzil—a reference to an Aztec deity. The build date of this version is July 5th, 1994. Subsequent revisions followed shortly after, with a later release specifically for the United States. While originally appearing in arcades, Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors would later see a port to the Sony PlayStation console in both North America and Europe, bringing its supernatural battles to home consoles. A prototype version was also planned for the Sega 32X but never materialized.
