Deathsmiles MegaBlack Label (Japan, 2008/10/06 MEGABLACK LABEL VER)
Cave (AMI license) • 2008

Deathsmiles Mega Black Label is a fast-paced, horizontal scrolling shooter released in Japan by Cave under license from AMI in October 2008. Players control one of several characters tasked with battling hordes of enemies and powerful bosses across increasingly challenging stages. As the game progresses, players must skillfully maneuver their character while unleashing a barrage of projectiles to survive the intense onslaught. This version builds upon the original Deathsmiles with new content for experienced players. It introduces Sakura as an additional playable character and includes a brand-new stage called Crystal Shrine. Furthermore, Mega Black Label features a significantly increased difficulty setting: Level 999, designed to test even the most skilled shooter enthusiasts. The game is intended for two simultaneous players. Produced in limited quantities—only 150 copies were released—Deathsmiles Mega Black Label represents an evolution of Cave’s signature gameplay style on the CV1000D arcade hardware. It serves as a pivotal entry within the Deathsmiles series, bridging the original title and its subsequent sequel.
