Dr. Tomy
Playmark • 1993

Playmark’s Dr. Tomy, released in 1993, presents a two-player puzzle experience for mature audiences. The gameplay closely resembles that of Dr. Mario, tasking players with manipulating falling shapes to clear them from the playfield. Each player controls their own side of the screen and must strategically rotate these descending pieces, attempting to create solid lines across the board. Unlike its inspiration, Dr. Tomy incorporates adult-themed imagery into its visuals. The game utilizes a Motorola 68000 processor and an OKI6295 sound chip to deliver graphics with a palette of over one thousand colors on a 320x240 resolution display operating at 60Hz. Players use a four-way joystick and two buttons to control their pieces, competing against each other until one player’s screen fills up.
