Gameplay

Challenge a friend in Vs. Dr. Mario, a two-player puzzle game released by Nintendo in 1990. Players rotate and drop differently colored pills to clear blocks from the playfield; matching four or more of the same color eliminates them. The gameplay mirrors that of the earlier Famicom version, "Dr. Mario," but provides a head-to-head competitive experience. As players strategically place pills, they attempt to outmaneuver their opponent and prevent the block stacks from reaching the top of the screen. Using an 8-way joystick and two buttons for control, each player races against the clock to clear their respective sides. Released as the final title on Nintendo’s Vs. system hardware, Vs. Dr. Mario offered a fresh take on the classic puzzle formula in an arcade setting.
