Dream Shopper
Sanritsu • 1982

Dream Shopper challenges players to navigate a grid-based room in search of hidden treasures and bonus points. As a shopper character controlled by a four-way joystick, your goal is to reach a score of 10,000 points while uncovering the tile types beneath your feet using a reveal button. Tiles are initially obscured, with only one featuring an apple that, when discovered, temporarily reveals all tiles and allows safe passage through otherwise dangerous creatures for bonus scoring opportunities. The gameplay involves strategic movement to avoid pursuit by yellow creatures and navigate hazards like black "hole" tiles that appear after revealing the apple. Special tile discoveries, such as bombs (which offer points if enemies are caught in the blast) and frogs (resulting in a bouncing point-scoring frenzy), add layers of complexity. Once the initial score is achieved, the shopper must then journey along a path to reach his girlfriend's castle, collecting various items along the way while still evading those persistent creatures. Dream Shopper, released by Sanritsu in 1982 and utilizing Pac-Man hardware, offers a unique blend of puzzle solving and maze navigation for up to two players.
