Mr. Do's Wild Ride
Universal • 1984

Mr. Do's Wild Ride is a fast-paced platform game released in 1984 by Universal, building on the foundation laid by earlier entries in the Mr. Do series. Players control Mr. Do as he navigates six increasingly challenging roller coaster themed levels, each filled with unique obstacles and traps. The goal of each stage is to reach the exit at the top of the screen, though collecting cherries along the way modifies a bonus reward received upon completion – offering either letters for "EXTRA" or other point-scoring items. Gameplay draws inspiration from classics like Donkey Kong; players use a joystick to move Mr. Do up winding tracks and jump over hazards while holding down an action button to increase speed, albeit at the cost of quicker bonus depletion. Successfully collecting all “EXTRA” letters awards a valuable extra life. Cooperative play is supported for two players, allowing friends to tackle the escalating challenges together. After completing the initial six levels - including themes like Pirate Ship and Multiple Columns – the game loops back to repeat them, providing continued replayability with increasingly difficult patterns. Technical specifications include Zilog Z80 processors and Texas Instruments SN76496 sound chips, contributing to a vibrant arcade experience.
