Gameplay

Dorodon is a cooperative maze game for two players, released in 1982 by UPL under license from Falcon. Players navigate vertical screens filled with interconnected pathways to collect scattered pellets while avoiding a large, central creature that relentlessly pursues them. Utilizing four-way joysticks and simple controls, the gameplay demands coordination as both players must work together to outmaneuver the Dorodon and clear each maze. The game’s visual presentation features a limited palette of thirty-two colors within a resolution of 192x240 pixels. The sounds are produced by two Texas Instruments SN76496 chips, contributing to an audio experience that includes recognizable musical pieces. Success relies on strategic movement and awareness of the Dorodon’s patterns, as players strive to achieve high scores through efficient pellet collection. Dorodon also saw a port to MSX computers in 1984, bringing its unique cooperative gameplay to home systems.
