Gameplay

Capcom’s Cadillacs and Dinosaurs arrived in arcades outside Japan in early 1993 as a distinctive fighter game built on the CP-S hardware system. The gameplay unfolds across a series of stages, blending hand-drawn character sprites with detailed backgrounds to create a visually layered experience—a style often referred to as 2.5D. Three players can simultaneously engage in combat, selecting from a roster of characters each possessing unique attacks and abilities. Players control their chosen character through the action, utilizing punches, kicks, and special moves to defeat opponents. The game’s setting evokes a retro-futuristic world where dinosaurs have returned alongside classic automobiles, influencing both the environments and enemy designs encountered throughout gameplay. This version, an export release, features text displays that differ from those found in the original Japanese edition. The title was initially developed in Japan as Cadillacs Kyouryuu Shin Seiki, but this arcade iteration represents its distribution outside of that region.
