Diet Go Go (Europe v1.1 1992.09.26, set 1)
Data East Corporation • 1992

Diet Go Go is a fast-paced, cooperative platform game for two players released by Data East in 1992. The objective is to clear each screen of quirky monsters by pelting them with food until they inflate, then bursting them to trigger chain reactions. Players must also watch out for incoming projectiles that cause them to gain weight; becoming too large results in a loss of life. Collecting diet sodas can reverse this effect and offer a temporary reprieve from expanding waistlines. Beyond simple monster blasting, the game incorporates unique mechanics like roller-skates for speed boosts and compressed air to propel enemies around the screen. Gathering Data East coins activates a fruit machine bonus that may award power-ups or trigger a special cloud-jumping mini-game where players dodge falling food while collecting gems. The gameplay progresses through a world map, challenging players with increasingly difficult boss encounters at the end of each themed area.
