Devil Fish (Mars hardware)
Artic • 1982

In Devil Fish, players control Sea Dog in a unique maze game where you cleverly manipulate aquatic creatures to progress. Your goal is to feed the Devil Fish, causing them to grow too large to navigate the passages of the maze and become trapped. Once an octopus is immobilized, you must touch it to reveal a portion of a hidden drawing. Completing the image advances Sea Dog to the next level. This cooperative game supports two players, each maneuvering their own Sea Dog with a simple four-way joystick and single button control scheme. Points are awarded for eliminating different types of octopuses; strategic play involves luring multiple creatures into traps for increased scoring opportunities. Careful attention should be paid to enemy speed as the levels advance—a quick pace demands skillful navigation through the maze's tunnels. Devil Fish was released in 1982 on Artic’s Mars hardware and features a distinctive gameplay loop built around indirect control and puzzle-solving within its underwater environment. A bootleg version of the game later appeared on Galaxian hardware in 1984.
