Deroon DeroDero (earlier, set 1)
Tecmo • 1995
Also known as: Deroon DeroDero / Tecmo Stackers

Tecmo's Deroon DeroDero, released in 1995, offers a lighthearted puzzle experience for two players. Gameplay revolves around strategically dropping colorful blocks onto a shared playfield. Players manipulate their columns of blocks using a joystick to arrange them into matching patterns; when enough blocks connect, they disappear, sending debris towards your opponent’s side. The objective is to overwhelm the other player with this accumulated “garbage” until their field fills up and they are unable to place any more blocks. The game's cheerful aesthetic and simple mechanics make it easy to pick up, while a surprising amount of skill is required to master the timing and placement needed to succeed against an opponent. Deroon DeroDero shares similarities with games like Puyo Puyo, providing a familiar but uniquely charming puzzle challenge. Versions of this title later appeared on both PlayStation and Sega Saturn consoles in Japan, while a modified version was released for PlayStation in the US under the name Tecmo Stackers.
