Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone (US)
East Technology / Technos Japan • 1990

Embark on a global quest in Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone, the final chapter of Technos Japan's classic beat ‘em up series. Billy and Jimmy Lee are challenged to confront a mysterious enemy rising in Egypt, setting them on a journey through America, China, Japan, Italy, and ultimately, into the Egyptian desert. Up to three players can join the fight, controlling either the Lee brothers or new allies: the Urquidez, Chin, and Oyama siblings, each possessing unique fighting styles. Gameplay builds upon the familiar Double Dragon formula with new moves like the belly-to-back throw and hurricane kick, alongside a dash mechanic by double tapping the joystick. Throughout their adventure, players can utilize weapon shops to purchase power-ups such as extra characters, powerful techniques, weapons for the Lees alone, energy boosts, or agility enhancements. The game's varied stages present unique challenges - from battling bikers in an American warehouse to facing ninja and Roman archers – culminating in a final confrontation within ancient Egyptian ruins. Notably, different versions of the arcade game exist; the Japanese release allows players to select their character at the start of the game, while other regions feature weapon shops that can be accessed during gameplay.
