Gameplay

Double Wings is a cooperative vertical scrolling shooter released in 1993 by Mitchell. Two players pilot aircraft through increasingly challenging levels, battling waves of enemies and navigating hazardous environments. The gameplay involves precise maneuvering to dodge projectiles while simultaneously firing upon approaching threats. A variety of sprites were created for the game's visuals by a team of artists including Pocop and Miyoshissyoh, contributing to its distinctive look. Programmers Nai Nai and Devid Boowy led the development effort, utilizing a Motorola 68000 processor alongside a Zilog Z80 chip. The game’s audio is delivered through Yamaha YM2151 and OKI6295 sound chips, providing the soundtrack for the aerial combat. Originally released in Japan during December of 1993, Double Wings offers a fast-paced experience requiring teamwork and skill to survive.
