Dark Seal (World revision 3)
Data East Corporation • 1990
Also known as: Gate of Doom

Choose your hero – Knight, Wizard, Bard, or Ninja – and prepare for frantic dungeon crawling in Dark Seal. This cooperative maze/fighter challenges players to navigate treacherous levels teeming with enemies while seeking out treasure and avoiding deadly traps. Developed by Data East Corporation in 1990, the game’s gameplay echoes the style of classics like Gauntlet, emphasizing teamwork as you battle through hordes of fantasy creatures. Up to two players can join forces using an eight-way joystick and button controls to maneuver their characters and unleash attacks. The game's soundtrack, released on a limited edition album shortly after its debut in Japan, features music composed by Hiroaki Yoshida, Tatsuya Kiuchi, and Kenji Mori. Dark Seal was also known as "Gate of Doom" in some export markets. A direct sequel, Dark Seal II, followed two years later. The game utilizes a Motorola 68000 processor alongside multiple sound chips to deliver its audio experience.
