Gameplay

Cyber Tank is a cooperative third-person shooter released by Coreland in 1988 featuring dual monitors for simultaneous play. Two players control tanks maneuvering across the screen to combat attacking enemies. The first player utilizes horizontal controls to guide their tank's movement, while the second player uses a dedicated gun unit to target and destroy incoming threats. A unique aspect of Cyber Tank is the ability for a second player to join an ongoing game already in progress. Despite its brief existence, Cyber Tank holds a special place within arcade history; it underwent limited location testing before being withdrawn, leaving only one confirmed cabinet known to exist today. The game's soundtrack was notably released on both cassette and compact disc shortly after its creation, demonstrating Coreland’s commitment even during the project’s short lifespan. Cyber Tank’s development coincided with a period of financial difficulty for Coreland Technology, ultimately leading to their acquisition by Bandai and a subsequent rebranding as Banpresto. The game’s hardware incorporated a T-8008 T-Type board and features cabinet dimensions of approximately 780 mm wide, 1300 mm deep, and 1750 mm high, weighing around 158 kg.
