Gameplay

Navigate a complex network of corridors within a mysterious cube in Cube Quest. Players pilot a spaceship through a series of interconnected passages, using a trackball to control movement and three buttons for firing at enemy fighters encountered along the way. A radar display shows the layout of the cubic world, allowing players to select which corridor to enter next after defeating its defenders. The game’s unique visual style utilizes early polygon graphics to create a sense of depth within the cube's structure, with backgrounds produced by Robert Abel and Associates using laserdisc technology. Successfully clearing all corridors rewards the player with access to the Treasure of Mytha, Master of the Cube Quest. Cube Quest, released in December 1983, represents an early experiment in three-dimensional graphics for arcade games and features a complex system of processors handling visuals, sound, and gameplay elements.
