Konami’s Vs. Castlevania arrived in arcades in 1987, offering a two-player adaptation of the popular Nintendo Entertainment System game. Players take on the roles of Simon and Jonathan, battling their way through Dracula's castle using swords and holy water to defeat hordes of monsters and undead creatures. The gameplay involves precise platforming as you navigate scrolling environments filled with traps and obstacles while engaging enemies in close combat. This arcade version retains the core structure of the NES original but features adjustments tailored for the faster pace common in arcades; expect shorter time limits and increased enemy aggression. Controlling your character requires skillful use of an eight-way joystick to jump, attack, and maneuver through the increasingly challenging levels. The game’s graphics display at a resolution of 256x240 pixels with a color palette of sixty-four hues. Two players can cooperate in their quest to defeat Dracula, facing the dangers of Castlevania together. Utilizing a pair of joysticks and buttons, each player must coordinate attacks and movements to survive the gauntlet of undead foes and ultimately confront the Prince of Darkness.
