Crowns Golf (834-5419-04)
Nasco Japan • 1984
Also known as: Champion Golf

Nasco Japan’s Crowns Golf, released in 1984, offers a two-player golf simulation experience. Players use a joystick to aim and strike virtual golf balls across detailed courses, striving for the lowest score over multiple holes. The game utilizes Zilog Z80 processors and a General Instrument AY8910 sound chip to provide graphics and audio feedback as players navigate hazards and attempt skillful putts. Originally released in June of 1984, Crowns Golf was licensed to Sega for distribution alongside Kitkorp (in the US) and Atari Games (in Europe). A unique auditory element is present upon game start; a recognizable musical piece known as “Old Comrades' March” plays after inserting coins, originally heard on the British radio program "The Goon Show.” Crowns Golf marked the first entry in a series that would later include Crowns Golf In Hawaii and Super Crowns Golf. The game features six buttons for player control during gameplay.
