Cotton 2 (JUET 970902 V1.000)
Success • 1997

Take to the skies in Cotton 2: Magical Night Dreams, a fast-paced horizontal scrolling shoot 'em up released in 1997. Players assume control of either Cotton, a witch accompanied by her fairy sidekick Silk, or Appli, another witch partnered with a talking hat named Needle. The game follows their quest to recover the stolen Bluewater Willow, a magical candy coveted by both witches for very different reasons – Cotton’s sweet tooth and Appli's nefarious plans. Working cooperatively, up to four players navigate through vibrant levels filled with enemies, using an 8-way joystick and six buttons to blast opponents while searching for the missing artifact. The storyline involves a mysterious tornado scattering Appli and the Willow into a neighboring forest, setting the stage for Cotton’s pursuit. Each character possesses unique abilities as they progress toward their goal of defeating foes and ultimately retrieving the magic candy. Cotton 2 runs on Sega ST-V hardware and continues the established series known for its whimsical characters and challenging gameplay. A soundtrack album was released shortly after the game's September 1997 debut, further expanding the experience beyond the arcade cabinet.
